A LIFEBOAT was launched to a stricken sailing yacht suffering with engine failure on Saturday.
Gravesend RNLI was called out to assist a sailing yacht which had issued a Mayday call after suffering engine failure in Long Reach, close to the QEII Bridge, at about 3.30pm.
The yacht was unable to make way against the tide and it was decided that the best course of action was to rig a tow and take the yacht back to their mooring at Thurrock Yacht Club.
The vessel was placed on to a safe mooring and the owner decided to stay on board and later make their way ashore by tender.
