THE Pride of East Thurrock Awards will be launched later this month.
On Friday October 31, shadow secretary of state for work and pensions, Rachel Reeves MP, will be joining Labour's parliamentary candidate for South Basildon and East Thurrock Mike Le-Surf to launch the Pride of East Thurrock Awards campaign.
The campaign will be launched at a fundraising dinner at Bikash Restaurant in Corringham and will be supported by John Kent, Leader of Thurrock council.
Mr Le-Surf said: “Let's make this election campaign about the people. During my campaign I want to celebrate the people and places that make East Thurrock such a great place to live.
“I have met many amazing residents, been to some fantastic schools and attended some fabulous community group meetings."
"The people and places of East Thurrock deserve recognition and the POET awards will do just that. We will be asking people to nominate their favourite places and local heroes and if elected, I will host the first POET Awards later next year."
