A GROUP of ten Thurrock women passionate about raising funds to fight breast cancer are proving to be simply the best!

The Thurrock Breast Cancer Campaign Group released their own version of Tina Turner’s hit song, retitled Simply the Breast, on Monday.

All proceeds raised by downloads of the song on iTunes and Amazon go straight to the Breast Cancer Campaign charity.

The group, which has already raised £18,000 through a series of activities, including a Burlesque for Breasts evening, a 10k run and 26-mile London Trek, now has its sights on topping the UK iTunes chart with its version of the Eighties classic Simply the Best.

They came up with the idea after meeting for the first time in January.

When deciding what to call themselves, Simply the Breast was suggested.

Nina Rudder, 41, of Chafford Hundred, a member of the group, said: "Someone said we should be called Simply the Breast, which led to another member blasting out the lyrics to the Tina Turner song.

"We thought from then that we should go about making a record and we did!"

The song was recorded at Harbour Studios, in Battlesbridge.

Andrea Nunnery, the group leader, said: "A lot of love has gone into this single.

"Recording it with such an incredible group of people was great fun, hugely emotional. and rewarding.

"My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, since then I have tried to do all I can to support Breast Cancer Campaign and the critical breast cancer research it does.

"We now need people to help us get the single to the top of the charts and raising lots of money for breast cancer research.

"The single only costs 99p and all profits go straight to the charity, so please purchase the single, and help us get to number one!"
