AWOMAN has thanked people who rushed to help after her dog was run over.

Kathy Gill, 60, of Furness Close, Grays, was walking her border collie, Becky, along Brentwood Road when the dog slipped her lead.

She ran across the road and was run over.

Mrs Gill said: “She gets very nervous around vehicles. We were waiting next to a cross-over and she managed to escape.

“She ran into the street and, before you know it, she was in an accident. It wasn’t the driver’s fault.”

Mrs Gill added that many people got out of their cars to help her as soon as they sawwhat had happened.

She said: “So many people rushed over and it just shows how nice the community is. It is actually amazing to think about howmuch help we got that day.

“There was a man called Robert who was very helpful as he offered to take us to the vet. I was in complete shock and really appreciate all the help I received.”

Becky, who is four years old, did not suffer a major injury in the accident on Tuesday, October 7, and is on the mend.

Mrs Gill added: “Fortunately, there were no broken bones and she’s feeling much better.”
