A MASQUERADE ball is being held this month to raise awareness of an epilepsy charity.

Lucy Bidgood, 40, lost her husband, Gareth, at the age of 33 in July 2013 after he suffered an epileptic seizure.

Mrs Bidgood, of Waverley Gardens, Grays, is hoping to raise awareness of Sudep – a sudden and unexplained death in epilepsy.

She will be hosting the ball next Friday, November 21, at the Orsett Hall, in Prince Charles Avenue.

Mrs Bidgood said: “I’m really excited to say we have an up-and -coming singer, Thomas James, lined up and he is contributing for free. We also have the Ockendon Photo Studio taking pictures for free on the night, which I’m really grateful for.

“I know Thomas will add some sparkle to the night. We also have a very talented musician to play while we eat, Paul Jackerman, and DJ Ian Scott, who is well-known locally.

“I’m quite confident it will be a really good night. I just want to raise awareness of Sudep because it is like a hidden disease that not many people know about.”

A limited number of tickets are still available and are priced at £40.
