Two people were trapped in their car and had to be cut free after a crash in Rectory Road in Orsett yesterday.

Three firecrews were called out at 4.30pm to cut out the two people after a two-vehicle crash.

Both casualties were trapped in the same car, and it took almost an hour to cut them free. They were free by 5.20pm.

No major injuries were reported.

Crews used two sets of cutting equipment to release them.

Two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles also attended the scene at 4.30pm and treated two patients with neck and back pain.

They were both taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for treatment for their minor injuries.
