A man with a rare disease made a marathon effort to raise more than £1,000 for others with the illness.

Ian Whittaker, from Grays, who has MSA – multiple system atrophy – pedalled a Giger MD therapy machine for two hours nonstop.

The machine, which is designed to be used for 30 to 40 minutes at a time is at Benfleet Physiotherapy, where Ian is a patient.

His ten-year-old grand-daughter Ruby and dog Daisy were on hand to give support. All funds raised are going to the MSA Trust.

Anyone who still wishes to donate can do so by contacting the MSA Trust directly, or calling Ian on 07970 198786.
