Metal, organisers of this year's new Village Beach Festival in Grays - have announced the line-up for the fest's seven stages on July 18.

Shlomo – a famous beatboxer who does a seven-man ‘orchestral’ show without instruments. Shlomo has performed at Glastonbury and worked with the likes of Bjork, Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker.

Rastamouse – the CBeebies star will be at the event to do a pop-up festival called Mice Up da Place, created especially for the day by Michael de Souza.

Russell Brand and Scroobius Pip have each designed a beach hut, along with local artists Dylan Atkins, Libby Hogger, Matthew Roberts, Lata Upadhyaya and the Royal Opera House.

There will be four local art shows at the event – from Indian dancing stilt-walkers to Tate Modern-style sound installations.

Floriferocity will be stilt-walking in floral outfits inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Sound artist Matt Lewis will bring his touring immersive sound installation No Such Thing as Empty Space in collaboration with deafblind charity Sense.

Fireflies is a special sculptural commission showing the oral history of the Nepalese community in Thurrock.

The Thames Group are 13 artists from across South Essex who have created an exhibition in response to T.S.Eliot’s the Waste Land.

South Essex College is putting on a music stage, while heaps of local schools are getting involved in the Thurrock 100, an offspring of the successful Beat the Streets campaign last year, which will see thousands of students walking around Thurrock and producing art in response to the borough.

Thurrock Court Players will be performing their new play Blackadder and also performing some of the Thurrock Writers’ Circle’s works, whilst the Marquetry Society will perform some live wood-laying.

The festival will run all day on Saturday July 18 at Grays Beach Riverside Park in Thurrock.
