Car lovers can take a step into the past this Saturday when the Classic and Vintage Car and Bike rally rolls into Corringham.

An array of cars from yesteryear will be on display, from David Hasselhoff’s Knight Rider car - to Dellboy and Rodney’s yellow “Trotters Independent Trading Co” Reliant Regal van.

As well as these replicas, enthusiasts from across the country are bringing their own treasured wheels, with over 50 classic cars on display.

Last year the rally drew over 1,000 people and this year the organisers are hoping for even more.

The vintage car get-together has been staged on by Kelly Bye and her dad Derek in order to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Kelly, who lives in Corringham, took on the challenge to raise money for her close friend Linda Humphreys who died in 2000.

Kelly said: “My dad owns classic car and goes to rallies all over the place, but as there’s nothing in Corringham, he decided we should run our own event.

"The first one was last July, and despite it not being very well signposted, over 1000 people turned up, so we knew we were really onto something!

“We’ve put everything we learned into this year’s event and it’s going to be much bigger and even better!

"There’ll be more cars and motorbikes and we’ve added a whole family fun day side to it, so there really will be loads to do for the whole family.”

The day will have over 50 classic and vintage cars and motorbikes on display, with visitors able to vote for their favourite exhibit, with prizes and trophies for the winners. As well as cars, this year Kelly and her dad have put on an indoor craft market, with 30 stalls including hand-made jewellery, accessories, wooden crafts, gift baskets, candles, toys and artwork.

For children there will be a rodeo bull and bouncy castle and the event includes a fully licensed bar, hot and cold food and refreshment, cakes and a candy stall.

There will also be a giant raffle, with prizes donated by the local business community.

The rally will be at Corringham Village Hall, Spring House Road, Corringham SS17 7LE from 10.30am – 4.30pm. Entry will be £2 on the gate, £1 OAPs and under 14s free.
