A South Ockendon epilepsy sufferer who was helped by strangers after a recent attack in the street is calling for raised awareness as part of National Epilepsy week. Tina Thompson, 48, who developed epilepsy in her twenties and can have uncontrolled seizures at any time, said: “I had a seizure in the street the other day and people were very kind, calling for an ambulance and making sure I was ok. I was very grateful for this and it made what happened less of an ordeal. Sadly this is not always the case and some people can be very cruel. I urge people to take some time to learn more about epilepsy and be considerate to people with the condition.” Tina said she also benefited from joining a local Epilepsy Action support group.
