Year 5 pupils from Little Thurrock Primary School went to the Thurrock Thameside Nature Park to collect a trophy for their year for their winning entry into an art wildlife competition.
The school beat off 40 other sculptures from schools around the borough to win the ‘Sculpture on a Pallet’ competition run by the park.
The winning design featured a girl, herring gulls and the river Thames.
Over 150 guests saw the two pupils presented with a prize for their ‘Sculpture on a Pallet’ entry by Essex Wildlife Trust CEO Andrew Impey.
Adrian Pritchard, Essex Wildlife Trust project leader said: “We have seen some fantastic and diverse conservation themed art work from the pupils and teachers of Thurrock Primary schools."
Second prize in the competition went to Graham James Academy, with Woodside Academy third.
The sculptures will be on display at TTNP during the school summer holidays as part of the Thurrock Art Trail.
