Two people have been hurt in an accident between two vehicles off the A13 in Stanford-le-Hope.
A man believed to be in his 20s has suffered a head injury and a woman whose age has not yet been identified has neck pains.
Police and emergency crews are at the scene and Essex Ambulance said the two victims were still being treated at the scene so had not been taken to hospital yet.
The incident took place on the roundabout at the junction of The Manorway (B1014) and the A13 at about 4.50pm.
A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: "Police were at called to a road traffic collision on the A1014 at 5pm today with reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
"The extent of injuries is unclear at this stage."
Essex Ambulance said they were called at 4.50pm and sent two ambulance crews, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer to the scene.
The spokesman said: "Two patients were involved - a female who we have no age for and a man believed to be in his 20s.
"The woman was treated for neck pains whilst the man was treated for a head injury.
"Both patients were taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
Essex Highways reported an accident between two vehicles and 'a fuel spillage' at 5pm.
