A motorcyclist has suffered "life-changing injuries" in an accident in South Ockendon.

Police were called to a collision between car and a motorcycle in Arisdale Avenue in South Ockendon at 4.30pm.

A man believed to be in his 30s is being treated for a suspected broken arm and injury to his leg, Essex Ambulance said.

A police spokesman said: "The motorcyclist has sustained injuries which are believed to be life-changing at this stage.

"Police are currently at the scene."

Essex Ambulance said they had sent a rapid response vehicle and ambulance crew to the scene, but were yet to convey the man to hospital.

Arisdale Avenue has been blocked in both directions near Arcany Road.

Essex Highways also reported a fuel spillage.

The incident took place close to Bonnygate Primary School.
