Gable Hall staff and students were celebrating today with a rise in their GCSE grades from last year.

Overall, the number of students leaving the school with five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C rose from to 75 per cent.

Staff also celebrated an overall 60 per cent pass rate in five or more subjects including English and Maths GCSEs, whilst 50 per cent of students gained 10 or more A*- C passes.

A spokesperson said: "Significantly for our inclusive ethos, this year as last year, every single child left Gable Hall School with a qualification.

"These results are of course provisional and are currently subject to a few appeals. We are hopeful that the figures will rise in due course."

Head Dr Sophina Asong said she was "delighted" with the results this year.

She said: "I am very proud of them all. We are really proud of the kids and the teachers too. The children have done well, and achievement overall has improved.

"Today is the children's day and they are going to go onto bigger and better things. So let them have it!"

"This is a wonderful school and we are proud of them. They work hard, their parents support them. We want them all to come back to our Sixth Form!"

The school said 36 per cent achieved the prestigious Ebacc qualification (A* - C in English, Maths, 2 Sciences, History or Geography and an MFL – a suite of 6 subjects.)
