THURROCK anglers have been getting among the fish this week.

Here’s what’s being caught: Thamesmead and Erith: Eddie Sharp reports lots of big flounders at Thamesmead and Morrison’s Jetty.

Grays Wharf: Soles are being caught on small rag worm baits at Bexhill Road, plus whiting and flounders.

Gravesend: Graham, from Dolphin Angling, reports soles, bass to 3lb, flounders, whiting and small codling being taken.

Southend Pier: Lee, from Southend Angling Centre, says the first of the garfish are showing off the pier, with anglers also landing whiting and sizeable bass. There is also the chance of a mackerel.

Southend beaches: Sport is hit or miss at the moment but anglers getting bites are catching whiting, flounders and school bass from Chalkwell to Thorpe Bay.

Barge Pier: Flounders and schoolies have been caught and there is the chance of a mackerel at the Shoebury venue.

Concrete Shelter: It is flounders only at the Shoebury structure.

Shoebury East Beach: Anglers are only catching flounders at the bus stop end but those fishing at the Boom end are getting flounders and schoolies.

Dungeness: Whiting, pouting, dogfish and rockling have been landed but they have all been small.
