STANFORD’S second string got back to winning ways with an emphatic home victory over Leigh-on-Sea.

The win came thanks to a devastating spell of bowling from Andrew Love.

Leigh stumbled to 82 all out which Stanford exceeded (83) without losing a wicket.

Leigh won the toss and opted to bat first but it wasn’t long before wickets started tumbling. Patel (20) and Wilson (24) provided some resistance but Love’s 6-37 from 14 overs including five maidens put a stop to any meaningful partnerships.

Andy Freeman (2-11 off 8 overs), Ben Tarten (1-22 off 10 overs) and a wicket for Jack Carter finished off the Leigh innings.

After tea Stanford openers Alex Ellis (39 not out) and Jordan Dodd (36 not out) made light work of the relatively small target. They knocked off the runs in just 18 overs to earn a much needed 20 points for the home side.
