AVELEY made it seven wins in a row after victories against Heybridge Swifts and Soham Town Rangers at Mill Field.
Millers took the lead against Swifts with only 15 minutes on the clock, after good work from Petrit Elbi and Danny Francis, with the latter pulling the ball back to Marcus Elliott who smashed home.
But Swifts struck back immediately – Lee Boylan out jumping his marker to draw the visitors level.
Aveley’s task was made easier when Paul White was shown a second yellow and it was Joe Bricknell whose acrobatics finish restored the hosts lead.
Two days later Justin Gardner’s side beat third placed Soham 3-1.
Elliott added to his goal at the weekend with two strikes, either side of a Soham equaliser and a goal from Danny Francis.
Elliott’s first goal was with the aid of a deflection, as was the Francis strike that restored the lead.
Elliott’s second saw him beat two men and net beyond the keeper to lift Aveley up to third in the division, three points ahead of fierce rivals Thurrock.
