EAST Thurrock United’s play-off hopes are over after they drew at Kingstonian.

Rocks cannot catch fifth-placed Enfield Town after an entertaining 2-2 draw, which Rocks should have won.

Sam Higgins, returning from injury, had the first shot although his drive was straight at goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey.

Mitchell Gilbey was the next man to try his luck, but his curling effort cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and away.

Higgins and Ross Parmenter again tested Tolfrey in a first-half dominated by the visitors, with Connor Witherspoon also coming close.

But it was no surprise who broke the deadlock, as Higgins beat Tolfrey from the corner of the penalty area for his 42nd goal of the season.

Rocks goalkeeper David Hughes pushed away an effort before a corner slipped through his grasp, leaving Alan Inns to equalise.

But he made amends with a fine save after half-time before Higgins restored the visitors’ lead with from the penalty spot.

The striker hit the crossbar before Ryan Sammons was denied.

But Kingstonian had the last laugh when Inns netted again to make it 2-2.
