AFTER a miserable run of eight straight defeats, the Lakeside Hammers turned their season around with two wins in a week.

First up, they battled for a hard-fought 50-39 win over the King’s Lynn Stars.

Andreas Jonsson was the Hammers’ top scorer as the Stars were beaten at the Raceway, finishing up with 11 paid 12.

Buoyed by their first win since April, the Hammers took on Wolverhampton Wolves in front of the Sky TV cameras on Monday and secured a dominant 57-34 win.

In a meeting held up after the third heat due to rain, the Hammers ran out convincing winners with Mikkel Bech top scoring with 13 paid 14, whilst Ashley Birks delivered a superb 11 paid 14 at reserve.

The double victory has pulled the Hammers off the bottom of the Elite League table and they will be hoping to continue in their recent form when they make the return trip to King’s Lynn on Thursday and then welcome Leicester to the Raceway on Friday night (8pm start).
