THURROCK won the Essex Charity Sevens tournament for the second year in a row.

T’s came through a tough group stage unscathed after wins over Maldon (45-4), Eton Manor (26-0) and Harpenden (26-19).

In the semi-final, Thurrock met a strong London Lithuania team but they came out on top with a 19-0 victory.

That set up a meeting with Westcliff in the final, but with two players now injured, T’s were up against it.

But Thurrock took the game to Westcliff from the outset and they were leading 21-0 at half-time.

They continued their onslaught after the re-start to run out convincing 47-5 winners.

Captain James Flavin lead from the front all day and guided his side to the trophy and qualification to the national finals at Allianz Park, home of Saracens.

The event on August 8 will see T’s take on the best of the rest from the country with a £1,000 prize pot on offer.
