Thurrock 2–2 Royston Town
From Ship Lane
FA Cup preliminary round
THURROCK will do it all again after they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Royston Town.
Fleet had drawn tricky opposition in the shape of Royston, who play their football in the Southern League Division One, and it was an exciting contest from the off.
The first goal wasn’t long in coming and it was the visitors who got it. Rhys Hoenes picked up on a loose back pass and rounded Jordan Warren to finish well.
But Mark Stimson’s men were not to be denied. Lewwis Spence, Fleet’s captain, equalised with aplomb only for them to concede again before half-time.
Chris Watters finished from the penalty spot after Hoenes had been adjudged to have been fouled inside the penalty area.
Into the second-half and Fleet bounced back once again. Remi Sutton was the man on the mark to make it 2-2, and that was how it stayed.
Thurrock: J Warren, Goode (Morgan), L Clark, Water, Sutton, J Clark, Christou, Spence (Fontaine), Stimson, Wall, Cowley
