What happened on Saturday? East Thurrock United battled back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Kingstonian.

Rocks were trailing by two goals with 15 minutes to play, but an own goal and a fourth of the season for Lewis Smith ensured the points were shared.

The away side were the better team in the first-half and they took the lead on the stroke of half-time, midfielder Dan Bennett neatly tricking his way into the box, rounding Lukas Lidakevicius and scoring.

Smith came close after the break but he was well denied by the goalkeeper only for Kingstonian to head up the other end of the pitch and double their lead.

On-form striker Pelayo Pico Gomez beat Ryan Scott for pace and buried a shot past the home side’s Lithuanian stopper.

Rocks seem destined for defeat until they were given hope by a bizarre own goal. Max Hustwick’s back pass wrong-footed goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey and found the net.

And the equaliser came late on from the penalty spot. Tolfrey fouled Harry Honesty and Smith netted to make it 2-2.

The preview: East Thurrock won this fixture 2-0 last season and will be hoping for a repeat this season, against the side that have struggled at the start of the new campaign.

Finishing just outside the play-off places last year, after they were deducted points having secured a top five berth, they have failed to spark this term and are languishing at the bottom of the division.

Rocks have been in impressive form however, having lost just once so far this term and putting in a number of improving displays.

They will be confident of getting another result again today, albeit after a poor performance on Saturday.

Former Rocks Connor Witherspoon and David Hughes could play a part for Enfield.

What he said: Rocks boss Coventry said: “We were dreadful on Saturday and I was more focused on the performance of the team rather than the fact that we managed to get a point. But thankfully we can move past it quickly and get a result against Enfield.

“They have not started very well and they will look to kick start their season having kept a lot of their squad together from last season. But we need a performance despite having a few players out.

“Connor Witherspoon will probably play against us. We couldn’t offer him first-team football after he had left for Maldon & Tiptree and that didn’t work out.

“But I am hopeful of getting a result.”
