Tilbury 3-0 Stansted
From Chadfields
FA Cup preliminary round
TILBURY secured their passage into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Stansted.
The Dockers had been unable to break down the Essex Senior League side’s defences on Saturday, in a 0-0 draw, but were the superior side on home soil.
Tony Martin, Kurt Smith and Andy Edmunds scored the goals to set up a tie with St Neots Town, of the Southern Premier League on Saturday, September 12.
Martin got the ball rolling after 27 minutes with a well taken goal, before Smith converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time in a hammer blow to the underdogs.
Young substitute Edmonds grabbed the final goal in what was a good night’s work for Gary Henty’s side.
Tilbury: Bogard, Mead, Hanlon, Nightingill, Pooley, Aiken (Edmunds), Martin, Carlile, Cook (Awokoya), Richmond, Smith (Babalola)
