Aveley 4-1 Horsham YMCA
From Mill Field
FA Cup second qualifying round
A HAT-TRICK from Lee Prescott saw Aveley into the third qualifying round and set up a tie with Havant & Waterlooville.
The Millers crushed Horsham YMCA 4-1 in their replay, following Saturday’s 2-2 draw, and now have a cup date to remember against the side from the National League South.
Aveley took the lead midway through the first-half, when Billy Holland’s cross was handled in the penalty area, leaving Prescott to tuck home.
The visitors responded well but they fell further behind three minutes before the interval – Prescott burying a fine long-range effort into the corner.
Aveley goalkeeper James Marrable was called upon to preserve his clean sheet early in the second-half only for Steve Willis to get in on the act on 62 minutes.
A corner was met by the defender and he powered home a header.
James Peagram hit the post before Horsham did get a consolation, as Dean White flicked a header into the net as the match entered its dying throes.
But there was still time for Prescott to net again, as he claimed the match ball with a 10-yard drilled effort.
Aveley host Havant next Saturday.
Aveley: Marrable, Seymour, Willis (Retkoceri), Harrison, Preston, Okwera, Holland, Prescott, Nash, Peagram, Deen
