RUGBY: Thurrock made it back-to-back victories with a hard fought 22-13 win at Old Priorians.

The triumph kept T’s fourth in the London One North table.

And their director of rugby Dean White was particularly impressed by his side’s second- half display.

“The second-half performance was one of the best 40 minutes we have played this season,” said White.

“We changed tactically in the second half and this worked really well.

“The players executed it well and credit must go to them.

“Our carrying game was fantastic but the most pleasing aspect of this win was the character shown by the team.

“We were under pressure but the team stayed together and worked through it.

“It showed a different side to our game and we came away with the important win.”

Thurrock started the day just one place higher than their hosts in the table.

And T’s were forced to dig deep during a difficult first-half.

“Our backs were against the wall and Old P’s put us under a lot of pressure in the first 40 minutes,” said White.

“We defended for long periods but our attack caused them problems when we had the ball.

“But, in the end, this game came down to sheer determination to get the win.”

Thurrock now sit 11 points behind third-placed Brentwood.

However, they will be looking to close the gap on their Essex rivals with a win against us weekend.

“Our next game is a massive one against Brentwood,” said White.

“We will be working hard in training to prepare for this challenge but our home record is very good and we will do everything we can to ensure it stays this way.”
