LAKESIDE reserve Lewis Kerr is aiming to hit top form over the second half of the season – starting against Poole at the Arena-Essex Raceway on Friday (8pm).

The Vortex Hammers will look to extend their winning home record to eight successive meetings when they host the highly-rated Pirates.

Kerr, 26, is looking to help them enjoy a winning return to Purfleet, exactly a month after defeating table-toppers Wolverhampton in their last home meeting.

The all-action racer has enjoyed a solid start to his Lakeside career after making the winter switch from King’s Lynn.

Having got to grips with his new home circuit, he is now looking to kick-on and end the campaign in style.

"I’ve had some up and down meetings, as was probably expected after my injury, but I’m hoping to finish a lot stronger," said Kerr.

“I really want to smash the rest of the season and end the year on a high. That’s the plan, so we’ll see how things go.

“Lakeside is a really good club for me, I seem to have the track dialled in now as well so I’m enjoying that.

“We’ve got a good team here with a great group of lads, and the management seem good as well so things are working out well.

“The main thing at the moment is just to make sure we reach that top four, and if we keep winning at home and pick up the odd point away we should make it.

“We’re in a great position at this stage of the season, we just need to work hard to stay there and make sure we are in those play-offs.”
