CHADWELL St Mary Amateur Boxing Club claimed three gold medals in the biggest boxing event ever held by the Yorkshire Amateur Boxing Association.

The club travelled to Hull with four boxers to compete against more than 250 boxers from the UK and Ireland.

Zac Baxter, 16, weighing 60kg earned his gold, beating J Johnson, from Earl Shilton Boxing Club in Leicestershire, by knockout.

James Josling, 14, weighing 36kg gave a faultless performance dominating every round winning gold by a unanimous decision against K Wood from Aston ABC in Birmingham.

Pa Doherty, 12, weighing 44kg had to dig deep against K Hardiker, a very strong boxer from Metro A.B.C in Manchester to earn the win.

And teammate Blaine Wordley, 11, weighing 34kg put in a good performance against J Lambert from Karmand A.B.C in Bradford but the decision did not go his way.

Club Chairperson Sindy Overy also passed an assessment to become a Grade A England judge.
