THURROCK captain David Cowley has left the club after reaching a mutual agreement with the club earlier this week.

Cowley, who joined Fleet at the start of last season, was only named skipper in the summer following the departure of club captain Lewwis Spence.

But he has now decided to leave the club and search for pastures new, having played his last game in the 3-2 defeat to Halstead Town in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Cowley tweeted his thanks on social media following the announcement on Sunday, saying: “I want to thank everyone at Thurrock for my time there, been great. It’s time for me to move on, all the best for the season.”

The club is yet to announce a new captain.
