AVELEY came from two goals down to earn a point against Thurrock in a thrilling derby.

The Millers and Fleet were both looking to build on promising starts in the league and it was the hosts that started stronger.

Recently-returned Remi Sutton hit a cross off the bar but Aveley’s Emmanuel Ighorae then sent a low drive inches past the far post.

Taylor Tombides was denied by Thurrock custodian Darren Behcet before the first goal of the evening arrived.

Ross Wall buried the ball beyond the keeper from close range on 21 minutes and the same man doubled the lead five minutes before half-time.

Wall stroked beyond Lamar Johnson to make it 2-0 at half-time.

But seven minutes after the interval Aveley were back in it. Ighorae smashed in from range to halve the deficit.

And 15 minutes later it was all square. Daniel McCullock, fresh from a late goal on Saturday, was on target again as he powered home a powerful drive off the post.

A late goal saw Tilbury come from behind to get the points against Waltham Abbey.

The first goal didn’t come until midway through the second-half, with Billy Holland grabbing it for Waltham Abbey.

Full-back Conor Mead scored the equaliser 12 minutes from time and Dwade James hit the winner a minute from time for the Dockers.
