VCD Athletic 4-2 Grays Athletic
From the Oakwood
Ryman Premier League
AN inexperienced Grays Athletic showed fight at VCD Athletic but succumbed to a 10th successive defeat as their season ended with a whimper.
Grays had lost nine on the spin and hadn’t scored in eight of those matches. However. They had a chance to end that wretched run against already-relegated VCD Athletic.
But Grays’ young side were struggling to contain a VCD side aiming to sign off with a bang and the hosts started with a goal.
Tyrus Gordon-Young opened the scoring after just four minutes with a neat finish before the same man doubled his and VCD’s tally half an hour later to put Grays in real trouble.
But then a moment to enjoy, as Blues scored for the first time since March 26 with winger Christian Papadimos giving Grays a lifeline.
But Malachi Hudson restored the two-goal advantage 10 minutes later.
Grays weren’t giving up and scored a second straight from kick-off, with Jermaine Osei grabbing Blues’ second.
But the afternoon belonged to Gordon-Young as he netted his third of the afternoon to leave Grays in 15th place.
Grays Athletic: Kamurasi, Ezeh, Boachie, Fuller, Tennent, Sollosi, Osei, Ekpiteta, Poko, Moses, Papadimos
